With hobbies and interests comes gear and gadgets. We have found that the best source of information on what to use comes from other people we have met along the way. Gear is expensive, and takes up space. Gear can also mean the difference between staying safe and having fun, and having a disaster. Here is some of what we have learned along the way. All of these suggestions are from the viewpoint of beginners! We just started doing all these fun activities in the last few years, so we want to help others just getting started. It can be daunting - hopefully our journey will make yours a little smoother.
Our first adventures into nature were simple day hikes. From there, we continued to push further into multi-day backpacking trips, and then into rock climbing and canyoneering. Here are some suggestions to get started.
